One of the things that quietly derails building projects isn't a structural problem or a budget issue.
It's a lack of communication.
When a client doesn't know what's happening on site, they worry. When a trade isn't told the programme has shifted, they book something else in and suddenly they're not available when you need them. When a supplier isn't given enough notice, materials aren't there when they should be, and the whole job stalls while everyone waits.
None of that is dramatic. It's just what happens when information doesn't flow properly.
Good project management is a lot about keeping the right people informed at the right time. The client knowing what's happening this week and what's coming next. The trades knowing when they're expected on site. Suppliers given enough lead time to get materials where they need to be. Small updates that stop small problems from becoming bigger ones.
It doesn't need to be complicated. It just needs to be consistent.
That's something we take seriously on every project we run, whether it's a single-storey extension or a full refurbishment. If everyone knows what's happening, the job moves. If they don't, it doesn't.
